Moving right along

So far, I have managed to avoid writer's block while writing this book. I'm kind of stymied at this point, though, because there's so much left to do. The book is basically done. The rewrites are going to be massive, but I'm now confident, I'll hit my word count goal, if not go over it. I'm thinking I should post some excerpts, but do people really read them?

It's interesting where I live. The Missouri River is causing havoc along it's shores, or should I say, it's former shores. It's been unbelievable. We've had lots of warning, the water is rising slowly, so anyone in it's path can actually move out of their houses, lock, stock, and barrel. It's been interesting. We're okay. We live miles and miles from the river, thank God.

I'll try and be more vigilant with my posting. I'm in one of those slumps where you don't have the energy to lift a hand.

That' it. Until next time, so long.

  2. Well it's a bonus not to have writer's block. Nothing worse than getting into a slump you just can't pull out of!!

I was fortunate enough to write my first draft (115K) of my newest chick lit novel in under three weeks. Quite the accomplishment. I've stuck to my 250 words a day and I'm already on the next book.

Plans for tonight: Lounging by the pool & contemplating chapter names for my revisions.

    PS - I read excerpts.

  3. It's the rewrites that takes the time, but just keep moving forward and you'll be fien. I'm nearly at the end of this draft and I can already see I'm going to need another.

  4. Great blog; I'm hoping that it will rub off on me so that I can improve my writing skills. I know editing well - did it for 20 years writing boring procedures on equipment where I worked. I am now retired and want to write more interesting text.

  5. Ever thought of writing a story with a flood? You'd have some first hand experience or know people who do. Yikes!

    Good luck with that.

  6. Writing about a flood, wow, not a bad idea. Thanks everyone for your comments. They mean a lot to me.

  7. Great looking blog! Glad I came across you.

I understand the flood thing. I grew up on the Mississippi. (Well, right next to it. I'm no Mark Twain.) I agree with Donna. A river in flood stage would make a good antagonist!

Consider me a follower. Lots of good info here.
