I think I can

I'm going to start with a nice low number, say five hundred words a day, and be happy if I get half that much done each day. A thousand words a day is way over my limit. If I get there, all the better. For me, a thousand words is close to a whole chapter. I'd have the thing knocked out in no time.

I've never been good a goals. That's why I never make them, but the times they are desperate and I feel a renewed sense of purpose.

I mentioned in my last post I was taking a break from Bum's Rush. What I meant was, I'm going to work on one then the other. I see others doing that and it seems to work for them. I think I can, I think I can.

  1. Hi, thanks for coming over to my site. Good Luck on writing 500 words a day (or more). "I think you can."

  2. You can totally do 500 words a day. It's the old 'butt in chair' thing, right? Cheers for inspiring and realistic goals!

  3. Elizabeth, I am POSITIVE you'll be able to do this. 500 words is just two old-fashioned pages double spaced.

It's the editing that trips up most people. We're so conscious of keeping our posts and emails short, [think tweets] and so we're constantly chopping off sentences, reworking, rewriting, changing words here and there -- pretty soon you may have written 300 but cut out and put in another 200 and there goes your allotted time! Try doing the 500, save the editing for a day or two, then give yourself time to edit two or three days worth of work. You might find you're getting a lot done and you're happier with the results.

Good luck! Keep us posted! [I also like the idea of writing on more than one project at a time. It does work!]:D

  4. Thank you for commenting on my blog. Your blog is a delight and a treat. I love reading bloggers who are writing a novel-in-progress. How much we can learn from the process. Best Wishes.
