What do I care?

I have stopped caring if my book gets published. What freedom. It's like a weight being lifted off my shoulders. All I want to do is write my stories. I was too busy worrying whether this sentence was interesting enough, or clever enough. Now I write for myself.

Let's face it, not everyone will get published. I don't think it is because of skill, or lack there of. If you practice anything long and often enough, you get better at it. But when you take your eyes off the lofty prize, you are free to explore and move beyond what might or might not be accepted. For me, at lease, this novel is moving again. I'm not letting things jam me up. Maybe after the third rewrite, but for now, I'M FREE.

  1. How am I going to read it if you've given up on getting it published?

  2. Hi, The traditional publication process is very difficult, that is for sure. From the standpoint of the large publishing houses it probably is needed because of the cost a large distribution of books. For readers like myself it is a problem too because I can not afford to pay new book prices. Check out this link on one authors experience. http://networkedblogs.com/p14502530

I am working for a company named Simplie Indie which helps people self publish ebooks or regular books. To get an ebook on the web site only costs $25 (a one time fee) for each title that you submit. You set the price and receive 70% of all sales. You are under no obligation and can pull you book at any time should a big time publisher want to pick it up. Hope your writing goes well. Like you say you are free if you don't have to worry about getting published.

  3. I have told DH, if I don't get published, I will do it myself just so I have the work in book form. I did feel pressure and decided it was silly. Good luck and enjoy your freedom.

But I also know what it feels like to be free from that. =D
